Funeral for John E. Carnell, 80, of Hartselle will be Thursday (today), July 19, at 3 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. David Gamble officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery in the Cedar Cove community.
Mr. Carnell died Monday, July 16, 2007, at Floyd E. "Tut" Fann State Veterans Home in Huntsville.
He was born Jan. 1, 1927, in Morgan County to Edward Stephen Carnell and Mattie Florence Turney Carnell. He was raised in Hartselle and then moved to Pontiac, Mich. to work at GMC Truck and Coach. While in Michigan he was a member of Dixie Baptist Church in Clarkston, Mich. After retiring, he moved back to Hartselle. He was a member and deacon of Bethel Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian E. Carnell; two sons, Nucan B. Carnell and Michael D. Carnell; a brother, Fred Carnell; and three sisters, Inez, Mary and Laverne.
He is survived by two sons, James S. Carnell and John L. Carnell, both of Hartselle; a sister, Peggy Wilson of Huntsville; four grandchildren, Casscandra Wynn, James Carnell, Jr., Brittney Carnell and Brandon Carnell; five great-grandchildren, Ava Carnell, Natalie Wynn, Gabrial Carnell, Roman Carnell and Victoria Carnell.
Pallbearers will be Jim Carnell, John Carnell, James Carnell Jr., Bud Lucas, Albert Lowery and Mark Lucas.
