Country Hearth Inn, a four-year-old motel at I-65 and Highway 36 was closed Wednesday, July 11, under an order issued by Morgan County Circuit Court but is expected to reopen soon under new ownership.
A sign posted on the front door by sheriff's deputies indicated that the business was closed for failure to comply with the Alabama lodgings and income tax withholding laws."
The new owner is Parag Patel. He said he has an attorney working with state agencies to get the facility unlocked so he can reopen it for business. He applied for a city business privilege license July 12.
"We'll reopen it as soon as the state will let us and we'll keep the name," he said. "I view this as a good business opportunity and will work hard to make it a successful one."
County Hearth Inn, which opened in 2003, was the subject of mortgage foreclosure notices published in the Hartselle Enquirer in March, April and May of this year.
