Funeral for Mary Caudill Mitchell, 74, of Hartselle was Thursday, July 5, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Hartselle with Drs. Ron Wilson and Jeff Redmond officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Decatur City Cemetery.
Mrs. Mitchell died Monday, July 2, 2007, at her residence. She was born Sept. 26, 1932, in Morgan County to Stephen Emory Caudill and Dora Armstrong Caudill. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Hartselle where she taught Sunday School. She was retired as a secretary for the Alabama State Troopers Office in Decatur and was a secretary for the former Morgan County High School from 1971 until 1978. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Gene Caudill, Stephen "Red" Caudill and Bobby Caudill, and two sisters, Esther Case and Dora Brock.
She is survived by four sons, Howard Rexford Mitchell and Bradley Caudill Mitchell, both of Hartselle, and James Gregory Mitchell and Jeffrey Stuart Mitchell, both of Decatur; a daughter, Leslie Carden of Hartselle; a brother, James Caudill of San Antonio, Tex.; a sister, Lucille Dumas of Florence; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Walter Dale Carden, Scott Mitchell, Bill Dumas, Patrick Prater and Eric Prater. The family requests that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
