Love's Travel Stop to have McDonald's and Subway

Two fast food restaurants-McDonald's and Subway-will be coming to Falkville next year as a part of the Love's Travel Stop development project at I-65 and Highway 55, according to Mayor Jimmie Walker.
"Both were listed among others as prospective tenants when Love's announced plans to locate here last February," Walker said. "We were pleased when they showed up on a recent draft of the site plan."
Walker said the project is moving forward in the planning phase.
"All of the required applications for approval from the State Department of Transportation have been filed and the planning commission will consider the site plan at its next regular meeting Aug. 7," Walker said. "I've also learned that a date has been set for the closing on the property the company is buying."
If everything goes as planned, construction will begin next fall and the travel stop will open for business in 2008.
Love's is a family-owned cooperation with headquarters in Oklahoma City, Okla. It has more than 190 Travel Stops and County Stores in 36 states. Alabama has only one Love's in operation. It is located in the Mobile area. Another facility is under construction in Clanton.
Based on company estimates, the business should generate about $288,000 in tax revenues for Falkville in its first year of operation.
