Funeral for Rebecca Elizabeth Gregg, 72, of Hartselle was Wednesday, June 13, at 2 p.m. at Salem United Methodist Church with the Revs. Harold Thompson and Michael Mason officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.
Mrs. Gregg died Monday, June 11, 2007, at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born Dec. 24, 1934, in Calera to John Russell Edwards and Julia Gunn Edwards. She was a devoted wife and mother who served with her husband at the Methodist churches he pastored.
She was a talented seamstress, a wonderful cook and an avid gardener. Mrs. Gregg left a legacy of her love of the Lord that will be handed down to her family.
She always had a smile and a word of encouragement for everyone.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, John Edwards; and a granddaughter, Leah Rebecca Brown.
She is survived by her husband, Odie Gregg of Hartselle; two sons, Joseph Gregg and wife Nita of Flat Rock, Mich., and Timothy Gregg of Hartselle; four daughters, Sara Brown and husband Cecil of Ragland; Janet Carroll and husband Jody of Montgomery, Rene Stiles and husband Matt of Falkville and Anna Calvert and husband Ricky of Vinemont; two brothers, Robert Edwards and Ellwood Edwards; three sisters, Elba Skinner, Frances Cook and Laura Gregory; and seven grandchildren, Gregg Brown, David Gregg, Daniel Gregg, Joshua Carroll, Hannah Carroll, Bethany Carroll and Meredith Ann Calvert.
Pallbearers were Bob Miller, Ronald Cole, Bobby Garner, Frank Campbell, L.C. Robinson and Keith Wilemon.
