Veterans sought for special honor
Editor:
We desperately need your help in locating and informing Alabama veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan about a one-of-a-kind state sponsored ceremony honoring them for their service.
Alabama military personnel serving in, or in support of, Operations Noble Eagle, Enduring Freedom and/or Iraqi Freedom are eligible for a special medal designed and minted for them. It is called the Liberty Bell Medal and will be presented to them at the opening ceremonies of the Alabama Sports Festival, Friday, June 29, at 6:45 p.m. in Birmingham. Alabama veterans of these campaigns must register in order to be on the roster to receive the Liberty Bell Medal. There is no charge and registration can be done online at www.alagames.com. in Birmingham.
Family members of veterans presently deployed, killed in action, or disabled may represent the veteran in their absence.
Our challenge is getting the information to service personnel who have served in order that they will have the opportunity to receive this much-deserved medal. Please help us by making these announcements a special priority in your newspaper.
We all thank you for your assistance. We hope that you too can join us for these ceremonies. For more information call Daniel at 334-239-3297.

Angels Still Exist
On Sunday, May 20 my sister, Inez Boster, and I were in The Cabin Grill for lunch. We had our food and was eating when our waitress came to tell us we would not be getting a ticket. We questioned “why”. She stated that a lady with her daughter had given them the money for our lunch and asked the waitress to tell us “God be with you”.
We’ve yet to find out who this generous and loving person is. We just want to thank you and we pray God will also be with you.
