George ‘L.C.’ Johnston

Funeral for George “L.C. “ Johnston, 77, of Somerville was Saturday, May 19, at 2 p.m. at Antioch United Methodist Church with Catherine Perkinsofficiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. Johnston died Thursday, May 17, 2007, at Parkway Medical Center in Decatur. He was born September 18, 1929, in Morgan County to Tate L. Johnston and Georgia Minerva Jane Price Johnston. He was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church, a veteran of the Korean War and a dairy farmer for 50 years. He was the fifth generation of his family to farm in Morgan County. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Price Johnston.
He is survived by his wife Ina Dunaway Johnston of Somerville; a son, Tate Clark Johnston of Somerville; two daughters, Anita Johnston Wade and husband Lloyd of Somerville and Denice Johnston Bowman and husband Robert of Charlotte, N.C.; a daughter-in-law, Lola Nixon Johnston of Center; two sisters, Nelda Jane Johnston and Caroline Johnston Sterling, both of Hartselle; three grandchildren, Thomas James Wade, Ryan Michael Wade and Mariana Claire Johnston; and a niece, Debbie Sterling Fanning and husband Barry of Hartselle.
Pallbearers were Skeggs Gilchrist, Barry Fanning, Vaughn Winton, Phillip Rolfe, Herbert Willis and Patrick Willis.
