Funeral for Coleman “Bill” Whitten, 87, of Falkville was Saturday, Feb. 3, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. A. Ray Lee officiating.
Burial was in Lebanon Cemetery.
Mr. Whitten died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born April 22, 1919, in Morgan County to James Plumroy Whitten and Lillian Ann Thompson Whitten.
He was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Navy and was involved in five different theaters. He was preceded in death by his wives, Alma Clemons Whitten and Effie D. Lee Whitten and a son, James Whitten.
He is survived by a son, Kenneth W. Whitten of Huntsville; a daughter, Patricia Lawrence of Burnsville, N.C.; a sister, Tuza Ryan of Hartselle; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Pete Lee, Jimmie Quattlebaum, Neil Quattlebaum, Garron Frye, Doug Street and Jerry Moore.
Honorary pallbearers were Ronald Grantland, Steve Lawrence and Larry Frye.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of North Alabama, the American Red Cross or to a favorite charity.
