Brewer finishes 7th at Hoover's Big Orange Classic

The Lady Patriots, one of just three Class 5A teams at Hoover's Big Orange Classic Dec. 20-22, finished in seventh place at the tournament. Brewer (8-6) dropped its first two games to Minor and Jess Lanier but finished up with a win over Woodlawn.
Jess Lanier girls 62, Brewer girls 54
The Lady Patriots battled back from a 16-point deficit and had a chance to tie in the fourth quarter before the No. 4 Class 5A Lady Warriors pulled away late in first-round action Dec. 20.
Brewer was led by Emily Dabbs and Morgan Crawley, who each finished with 11 points.
Jess Lanier's Jasmine Lee led all scorers with 17 points.
Minor girls 56, Brewer girls 54
Minor's Tiaren Young hit a field goal and made the ensuing free throw to provide the margin of victory for the Class 6A Lady Tigers Dec. 21. It was Minor's only lead of the game.
Andrea Crawford had 19 points to lead Brewer and Genie Browning added 12.
Zenobia Pitts finished with 30 points to lead Minor.
Brewer girls 88, Woodlawn girls 18
The Lady Patriots closed out their trip to Hoover with a dominating performance Dec. 22. Five different Brewer players scored in double figures for the victors.
Patricia Murray led Brewer with 20 points, followed by Courtney Scott and Emily Dabbs, who each scored 13. Morgan Crawley added 12 points and Heather Steelman finished with 10.
Natasha Holmes led Woodlawn with seven points.
