Funeral for Rachael Estherlee Barnes, 87, of Hartselle was Saturday, Dec. 16, at 1 p.m. at Hartselle Church of Christ with Phillip Hines officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
A graveside service was Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006, at 3 p.m. at Mount Zion Cemetery in Steele, Mo.
Mrs. Barnes died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006, at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born Jan. 31, 1919, in Missouri to William Ledford and Mattie Latimer Ledford. Beautiful both inside and out, Mrs. Barnes approached life with grace and charm. Her gentle spirit and clever wit will be missed by all those blessed to know and love her. She was a talented artist whose paintings will be cherished. A great cook, she took pride in creating an inviting home for family and friends. She was a member of Hartselle Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee Barnes, and two brothers, “Buddy” Ledford and Joseph Ledford. She is survived by two daughters, Myrana Lee Wallen and Rita Sue Kifer and husband James, both of Hartselle; two sisters, Allene Bruce of St. Joseph, Mich. and Lucille Denton of Traverse City, Mich.; four grandchildren, Norval Wallen, Charessia Horn, Shelly Tomlinson and Stephanie Littrell; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jason Tomlinson, Zac Littrell, Cecil Cole, Alan Walker, Don Facine and Tim Tanksley.
