A funeral with full military honors for Cpl. Jon-Erik Loney, 21, of Hartselle will be Saturday, Dec. 9, at 2 p.m. at Bible Baptist Church near Oak Ridge with the Revs. Glenn Swaggerty and Harold Swaggerty officiating.
Visitation will be at Peck Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 8, from 3 to 9 p.m. His body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service.
A military burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Cpl. Loney died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006, of injuries he sustained when the Humvee he was driving was struck by an improvised explosive device (IED) in Iraq. He was born April 9, 1985, in Morgan County. He was a soldier in the U.S. Army and a 2003 graduate of Danville High School. He also was an avid musician, gun collector and loved to fish.
He is survived by his parents, Bo and Violet Kaylor of Hartselle; a brother, Josh Loney of Hartselle; a grandfather, Pruitt Johnson of Hartselle; and his grandparents, Allen and Linda Kaylor of Trinity.
Military personnel will be pallbearers.
