Smith, Morgan exchange vows
Kira Michelle Smith of Hartselle and Ryan Michael Morgan of Hartselle were wed Sept. 9, 2006 at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Hartselle. Rev. WG Henry of Madison officiated the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Donna Smith of Hartselle and Keith and Marsha Smith of Falkville. The groom is the son of Mike and Jan Morgan of Hartselle.
The church was decorated with candelabras on the alter and greenery with white caspa on the prayer rail.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a white strapless satin gown accented with pearl beading. She carried a bouquet of stargazer lilies.
Ethan Howell, brother of the bride, of Hartselle; Jeff Smith, cousin of the bride, of Hartselle; and Brad Spivey of Hartselle were ushers. Ethan Howell also served as candlelighter.
Music was provided by CDs made by Will and Anena Willis.
The reception was held in the Ministry Center at First United Methodist Church.
The bride’s three-tiered cake was white with raspberry ribbon topped with a tiara and wedding veil.
Guest enjoyed other tables of finger foods, fruits and vegetables.
The groom’s table contained a chocolate layer cake with strawberries, cheese straws and strawberries.
The wedding was directed by Amy King. Assisting with the reception were Beth Sample, Anena Willis, Leah Fortner, Mandy Jones, Pam Spivey, Lori Seaton, Debbie Carden, Cara Carden and Jana Cooper. Lacey Smith attended the bridal book.
The couple honeymooned at Weis Lake in Centre. After the groom’s tour of duty in Iraq, the couple will reside in Colorado Springs, Colo.
A rehearsal party hosted by the groom’s parents was held the night before the wedding at First United Methodist Church’s Ministry Center.

Sims, Barbre to wed Nov. 4
John and Jeannie Sims of Danville announce the engagement of their daughter, Sarah Abigail Sims, to James Eugene Barbre, son of Kathy Summerford of Hartselle and Steve Barbre of Athens.
The bride-elect is a 2003 graduate of Danville High School and a prospective 2007 graduate of Athens State University. She is employed with Deloain New York Day Spa of Decatur. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Thieme of Ventura, Calif., Marion Thieme of Yerington, Nev., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Sims.
The groom-elect is a graduate of Hartselle High School. He is an Army Reservist and was deployed to Afghanistan in Operation Enduring Freedom for one year.
He is employed with the Limestone Correctional Facility.
He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Barbre of Athens and Mr. and Mrs. James Lee of Hartselle. The wedding will be Nov. 4 at 1 p.m. at Doublehead Resort in Town Creek.
