Wreck claims life of Vinemont man

By Staff
A Vinemont man died Saturday morning when his car collided with an SUV at the intersection of Highway 31 and Wilhite Road in south Morgan County.
Killed in the mishap was Charles Hailey, 73. Morgan County Coroner Russ Beard pronounced him dead at the scene from blunt force trauma to the chest and head.
Falkville police and firefighters responded to the wreck at 10:50 a.m. and were able to free Hailey from his seat belt and remove him from his badly damaged car within seconds of their arrival. He was unresponsive, according to Falkville Volunteer Fire Chief Eric Sawyer.
The victim was enroute from his home on Eva Road to Lacon Trade Day, a family member said.
The driver of the SUV was Shelia Graham, also of Vinemont. She sustained minor injuries and was transported by private vehicle to a Cullman hospital.
