Lady Tigers, Lady Hawks both finish 2nd at area tournaments

Lady Tigers fall to Athens in championship game of Area 16 tourney
Championship:

Hartselle 2 (8 innings)
Athens scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to send the game into extra innings then won it in the bottom of the eighth.
Breanna Segars started the game for Hartselle, pitching five innings and allowing four hits and one earned run while striking out one. Mary Curtis took over in the sixth inning, allowing two runs and five hits to take the loss for the Lady Tigers.
Hartselle's Shanice Johnson had an RBI and scored a run. Kayla Orr had an RBI double.

Kristy Pevahouse reached over the left field fence in the bottom of the sixth inning to rob Muscle Shoals of what would have been a home run as Hartselle held on to eliminate Muscle Shoals from the area tournament.
Segars pitched the complete game win, allowing three hits and one earned run while striking out five. She also had a 2-for-3 performance at the plate.
Orr had Hartselle's lone RBI and hit a single. Johnson scored a run and had a single and Catie Keel also scored a run and hit a single.

Athens' Whitney Hawkins pitched a no-hitter as the Lady Golden Eagles shut out Hartselle and send the Lady Tigers to the losers bracket at the Area 16 tournament. Curtis took the loss, allowing seven hits and four earned runs while striking out two.

Muscle Shoals 0
Breanna Segars allowed just two hits for Hartselle as it advanced to the finals of the winners bracket at the Class 5A, Area 16 tournament in Athens.
Kayla Orr was 3-for-4 and scored a run while picking up four RBIs. Kristy Pevahouse had two RBIs and scored a run and Catie Keel scored two runs on 2-for-4 hitting.
Danville finishes 2nd at area tournament
The Lady Hawks were the runner up in the Class 3A, Area 12 tournament held at Danville this past week. Danville fell in the championship game to J.B. Pennington by the score of 5-2. They traveled to Sumiton Christian for the first round of the playoffs Tuesday.

Kristen Thompson took the loss for Danville. Charleston Wilson hit a triple and a single, Kristen Sparkman had an RBI and Mallory George had a sacrifice. Bethany Evans, Whitney Haggamaker, Brittany Atkins and Haley Hensley all had singles.

In pool play, Atkins took the win, striking out six and allowing three hits. Gillott had two RBIs and a single, Hensley had two singles and an RBI and Haggamaker hit a single and had an RBI. Wilson hit a triple and had an RBI and Thompson and George each singled.

Good Hope 1
Atkins picked up the win on the mound, striking out 10 batters while allowing just two hits. Sparkman, Atkins, Gillott and Hensley each had one RBI. Evans hit two doubles, Wilson hit a triple and a single and Kassie Cowart hit two singles. Thompson hit a single and had a sacrifice.

Atkins hit a double and Gillott had a single as Danville was shut out.
