Funeral for Hubert Cleon Yates, 75, of Decatur will be Friday, May 12, at 2 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joe Hoover and Bill Dukes officiating.
Burial will be in Jones Cemetery in Falkville. Visitation will be Thursday (today) from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Yates died Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at his residence. He was born Aug. 5, 1930, in Morgan County to Hubert G. Yates and Grady Wilcutt Yates. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and served Morgan County as Commissioner of Licenses for 29 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Kim Yates Ward and husband David of Hartselle; four grandchildren, Shannon Hitt of Jackson, Miss and Brandon Hitt, Heather Ward and Kiara Ward, all of Hartselle; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bill J. Dukes, Emmett Sanders, Ron Seibert, Judge Bobby Day, Greg Steenson, Herman Marks Sr., Bill Moman and Billy Waterson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Hitt, state-wide elected friends and co-workers and a host of past and present Jaycees.
