Alabama Jubilee set for May 27-28

By Staff
A twilight balloon glow and a booming fireworks display will be among the highlights of the 29th annual Alabama Jubilee Hot Air Balloon Classic May 27-28. The jubilee will be held on the grounds of Point Mallard Park.
More than 50 balloons from across the country are expected to participate in the competitive races and free flights. Takeoffs are held each day at 6:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
The balloon glow features pilots hovering their crafts just above ground level while opening the flame valve on their burners to make them shine like candles on Saturday night. There will also be a fireworks show Sunday night.
Other scheduled events include an arts and crafts show, antique car show, children's games and rides, antique tractor and machinery show, vendor booths and live entertainment.
For information and a schedule of events, call 524-6181.
