April 13, 1956 – One of the more noticeable improvements around town during the past several months has been the modern, handsome new buses added by Rodgers and Rodgers Bus and Taxi Service. So that it will be financially feasible to continue to offer Hartselle-Decatur bus transportation, people are asked not to give rides to their fellow commuters.
April 13 1956 – Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Puckett, Jr., are rejoicing over the birth of a son last night at Hartselle Hospital.
April 13, 1956 – Ralph Lauderdale has recently left Hartselle to assume his duties as manager of Lee-Hi Camp in the new state-developed park between Athens and Florence.
April 14, 1956 – Ed Watson and Charley Beene have volunteered as a two-man team to try to re-establish softball as a popular sport at Recreation Park. Last year's season was spiritless.
April 14, 1956 – To promote their mothproofing service, Pettit’s Cleaners and Tailors is giving away three all expense paid trips, one each to Paris, Las Vegas, and Miami Beach.
April 15, 1956 – Bentley’s Beauty Shop was opened to the public last week following redecoration and installation of all new equipment.
April 15, 1956 – Today is the day for filing 1955 income tax returns. The Hartselle post office is gearing up to handle much more than the usual volume of mail.
April 15, 1956 – The MCTS concert choir climaxed their community tours today with a concert at the St. John School in Somerville.
April 16, 1956 – Air conditioning is being installed at Kuhn's five-and-dime.
April 17, 1956 – The Sparkman twins (Ronnie and Ronald) won first place in the annual 4-H talent contest at Hartselle Elementary today.
April 18, 1956 – Garland Rollins, operator of the Rollins Rest Home on Sparkman Street, is now leasing the Falkville hospital building in order to open another nursing home.
April 19, 1956 – Hank Farris, who has been in the entertainment business all the way up to his 10-gallon hat for 25 years, has come to Hartselle to manage the Strand Theatre.
