March 23, 1956 -Raymon Baker, owner-manager of Baker Manufacturing Co., was installed as president of the Hartselle Chamber of Commerce at tonight's annual dinner meeting. Hugh F. Penn is the vice-president.
March 23, 1956 -Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Orr are in New York City this week where Mr. Orr is attending to business for the Wolverine Copper Tubing plant.
March 24, 1956 -Jan Ward has been elected president of the MCHS student body for next year. Jan's victory over two strong opponents-Bowes Channell and Karl Estes-was made possible by the super work of her campaign managers, Skipper Drinkard and Billy Britt.
March 24, 1956 -W. H. Evans was recently re-elected chairman of the Hartselle Cemetery Association. Directors, aside from Mr. Evans, include Mrs. Arwin Draper, Mrs. S. E. Stewart, Jr., W. H. Stewart, Billy D. Mitchell, Alva Clemons, and Leonard Wallace.
March 25, 1956 -Nancy Jo Burleson, MCHS senior, was the second place winner for the entire state of Alabama in the "What Industry Means to Alabama" contest. Her prize is a two-year scholarship to Birmingham-Southern.
March 26, 1956 -Ruth and Ruby's Beauty Shop will move next week from Bentley's Barbershop to their new location, the Booth building, formerly occupied by Grizzard's Caf/.
March 27, 1956 -The old McDaniel house, which was located just north of Hartselle Hospital, has been razed and the bared area is being converted into a much needed parking lot for use by hospital workers and visitors.
March 27, 1956 -The Star Market is advertising four pounds of lean, pure pork sausage for a dollar.
March 28, 1956 -Hartselle Boat Co., headed by Frank Smith and Bennett Vest, recently received an order from the state Department of Conservation for 20 fishing boats.
March 28, 1956 -The long-sought Iron Man-Neel road-paving project has been set up for an immediate start by Montgomery highway authorities. This happy news bought rejoicing to many, many residents of the area north and east of Danville.
March 29, 1956 -His MCHS classmates are teasing Billy Don Aldridge for being so stingy with his chewing gum.
