Falkville teenager killed in wreck
A Falkville teenager was killed Sunday night in a one-vehicle accident 10 miles west of Cullman, according to a state troopers report,
The victim was identified as Patrick Lantz Alred, 16. He was a passenger in a sports utility vehicle driven by a Cullman teen. The mishap occurred on Cullman County Road 1087 at approximately 7 p.m. The driver was not injured.
The SUV was the only vehicle involved in the accident. Alred was not wearing a seat belt.
Police investigating string of car burglaries
Hartselle Police are enlisting the help of residents to stop a recent string of car burglaries.
According to Lt. Justin Barley, 10 cars were burglarized March 11-14 in areas near Mitwede and Enslen streets in Hartselle. Items stolen include car stereo equipment, DVD players, CDs, and a firearm.
Barley said the large majority of the 10 cars burglarized had unlocked doors.
"The cars being targeted have unlocked doors," Barley explained.
"We are urging people to please lock their car doors and to not leave their valuables in plain site."
