Funeral for J. H. Ryan, 77, of Hartselle was Friday, Feb. 24, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Dr. Milan Dekich and the Rev. P. J. Jenkins officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. Ryan died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Aug. 25, 1928, in Morgan County to Issac Dolph Ryan and Maudie Cryer Ryan. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years and retired as an electrician from Monsanto after 30 years of service. He served as a deacon at Mt. Zion Baptist Church and Lebanon Baptist Church and also served as discipleship training director for several years at Lebanon. Mr. Ryan was a devoted Christian. He was a farmer and loved to garden, fish, quail hunt and travel. He was always whistling, always happy, always smiling. He was preceded in death by a brother, I. D. Ryan.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Ryan of Hartselle; a son, Jeff Ryan and wife Michelle of Danville; a daughter, Becky Ryan Holladay and husband Carl Jr., of Hartselle; a brother, Billy Don Ryan of Danville; a sister, Martha Hutzler of Hartselle; five grandchildren, Ben and Laura Holladay, and Rachel, Callie and Johnathan Ryan; and Van Mitchell, a special friend and caregiver. Pallbearers were Steve McClellan, Frank McClellan, Alan Wiley, Roger Hutzler, David Ryan and Chad McClellan.
