Funeral for Seth M. Ballew Sr., 84, of Hartselle was Saturday, Nov. 26, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Harold Brown and Alfred Palmer officiating.
Burial was in Bethel Cemetery with military honors.
Mr. Ballew died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Oct. 26, 1921, in Stovall, Ga., to Robert Gentry Ballew and Cleo Gresham Ballew. He retired as a civil servant from Redstone Arsenal and was a farmer. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in North Africa and Italy, and was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Ballew was a member and deacon of New Center Baptist Church. He displayed an example of great strength and Christian faith, which set the foundation for each member of his blessed family. He was an honorable and very loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Mr. Ballew was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Logan, Bobby and Ray Ballew.
He is survived by his wife, Erline W. Ballew of Hartselle; three sons, Seth Ballew Jr. and wife Ann of Hartselle, John Paul Ballew and wife Dana of Buford, Ga. and David Ballew and wife Debbie of Decatur; three daughters, Maxine Franklin of Danville, Brenda McMinemon and husband Dale and Kathy Ray and husband Chuck, all of Hartselle; two sisters, Mary Clark of Decatur and Edna Bradshaw of Cullman; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Michael Ballew, Chris Ballew, William Ballew, Jeff McMinemon, Kevin Beal, Russ Adams, Mark Sapp and Jim Rector.
