Area merchants, chamber readying for annual event

The glitter and sounds of a new Christmas season will be seen and heard in Hartselle on Sunday, Nov. 6, with the kick-off of Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce's "2005 Hartselle for the Holidays" trade promotion.
Eleven antique and gift shops located in the central business district will observe "Christmas Open House" from 1 to 6 p.m.
A "Taste of Hartselle" will offer complimentary finger foods to shoppers from 2 to 5 p.m. in The Station.
Open house participants include Country Classic Antiques, Country Cupboards, Kitchens &Baths, Creel's Antiques &Collectibles, Genesis Antiques &Gifts, Holladay Antiques, Minnie Belle's, Ragtime Antiques, Slate Gallery &Framing, Suzy's Hallmark, The Dowry Chest and The Robin's Nest.
Food for the "Taste of Hartselle" will be provided by China Wok, David's Catfish Restaurant, Hartselle Medical Center, Las Vias Mexican Grill, Kroger Deli, Small Town Caf/, Culinary Express, Domino's Pizza, Hometown Market, Java Jaay's, Pepsi and Willie Burgers.
"From the chamber's perspective, this is a wonderful opportunity for Hartselle area residents to start their Christmas shopping at home," said Susan Hines, chamber president. "Hartselle is the ideal place to shop if you're looking for a special gift for an antique buff or collector. The selection is at its best now and prices are very reasonable."
Other upcoming "Hartselle for the Holidays" events include Hartselle Kiwanis Pancake Day Saturday, Nov. 5, from 6-11 a.m. at Hartselle High School Cafeteria, Holiday Rummage Sale at Sparkman Civic Center Nov. 4-5 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., annual downtown Christmas Parade Thursday, Dec 1, at 7 p.m. and Christmas Tour of Homes Sat., Dec. 3, from 4 to 8 p.m.
