Priceville continued its impressive mid-season run with a 28-7 thumping of visiting Cold Springs Friday night. It was homecoming for Priceville and the Bulldogs gave the packed bleachers of Priceville faithful plenty to cheer about with another outstanding defensive and offensive effort.
Priceville struck first on a 9-yard touchdown pass from Will Stevens to Rand Hutchison with 4:05 left in the first quarter. Brad Helton split the uprights to put the Bulldogs up 7-0.
Cold Springs answered on a 15-yard run by Corey Myricks to knot the game 7-7 with 7:21 left before the half.
Eli Allen took the ensuing kickoff and rambled to midfield, then teamed up with J.R. Westmoreland to move the ball inside the 10. From there it was senior quarterback Hunter Teague on a 9-yard keeper for the second Priceville score. Helton was again true on the extra point and the Bulldogs were up 14-7 at the break.
With the Bulldog defense thwarting the Eagles' every move, Allen added a 12-yard touchdown scamper at the 8:55 mark of the third quarter to pad the Priceville lead.
Teague would connect with Hutchison again from 26 yards out to put the final Priceville points on the board. Helton added his fourth extra point of the game to make the final score Priceville 28, Cold Springs 7.
Josh Heflin recovered a Cold Springs fumble to end the final Eagle scoring threat and seal the homecoming victory for Priceville.
"I'm proud of the way we're playing right now," head coach Marty Chambers said. "Offensively things have been clicking and our defense has played extremely well."
The Bulldogs held Cold Springs to just 101 yards total offense while racking up 327 yards of their own.
Teague was 5-of-9 for 98 yards through the air and led the rushing attack with 95 yards on 14 carries. Allen had 17 carries for 80 yards. Helton's lone punt for the evening was a 49-yard effort. He was 4-of-4 on extra point attempts.
Priceville (3-3) entertains Falkville Friday night in the final home game of the season at Bulldog Stadium.
