Oct. 6, 1955 -Construction has now begun on a new eight-room addition to Hartselle Hospital-the fourth expansion of the facility since it was first built in 1947. When finished there will be 28 beds.
Oct. 6, 1955 -Woodrow Puckett has been appointed chairman of the Morgan County Board of Voter Registrars.
Oct. 7, 1955 -Arthur Bean, a native of Hartselle, has returned to take up duties as a full-time pharmacist at Peoples Drug Store on Main Street.
Oct. 8, 1955 -The MCHS column this week spotlights a member of the junior class-brown-haired, hazel-eyed, and weighing about 118 pounds. The identity of the young lady for whom great things are predicted because of her sweet disposition and friendly attitude is Joy Sue Gibson.
Oct. 8 1955 -Several from Hartselle were able to witness SEC football powerhouses Auburn and Kentucky fighting to a 14-14 tie today in the Tigers' den. The unbeaten Plainsmen were frustrated in missing on three field goal attempts, including one from the 20-yard line in the final seconds of the game. Auburn's offensive leader was Fob James who ran brilliantly throughout this gridiron contest.
Oct. 9, 1955 -Mrs. Y. A. McCall, Mary Frances McCall, and Mrs. J. K. Haynes were guests of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Vest in Decatur today.
Oct. 10, 1955 -Sales of community birthday calendars is now under way. The calendar promotion is sponsored by the elementary school PTA and is being led by Mrs. E. L. Drinkard, Jr., and Mrs. Charles Simpson.
Oct. 11, 1955 -At tonight's meeting of the council, the city fathers decided that firemen should start wearing uniforms. Pursuant to this, the city will make an initial purchase of uniforms to fit each firefighter with two pair of trousers, two shirts, coat, cap, and tie.
Oct. 12, 1955 -Hartselle directors of the United Fund are B. G. Hall, Mrs. H. M. Betterton, L. T. Wagnon, Bill Stewart, and Jack Hoffhaus. The first charity drive will be launched in about a week.
