Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce President Susan Hines and Hartselle Mayor Dwight Tankersley agree that Saturday's Depot Days Festival was "one of the best" in its 25-year history.
"It was a great day weather-wise, we had a lot of people in town, business was good and there was no trouble to speak of," Hines said. "I definitely feel like it was one of the best Depot Days we've ever had."
"I thought we had a nice crowd and everything went smoothly," Tankersley stated. "I also thought everyone was having a good time, especially those who hit the target while I was sitting in the dunking booth."
The booth was operated by the Hartselle High School Chorus. Tankersley was on the hot seat from 10 to 10:30 a.m.
"Somebody asked me how many times I got dunked," he said. "I told them I quit counting after the first spill. It didn't matter anyway because I couldn't get any wetter."
"The lumberjack show was wonderful," Hines stated. "It included a lot of comedy and the log-rolling dog was a hoot. I got really good feedback from it."
She also reported vendor booths filled all of the spaces on Main and Sycamore Streets and in the downtown breezeway for the first time in several years.
"They were happy with the crowd," she said, "and the shop owners with whom I've talked also had a good day."
She reported that some of the food vendors closed before the end of the day because they ran out of food.
"I want to thank all of our volunteers for their dedication and hard work" she pointed out. "It would be impossible for the chamber to take on a project of this magnitude without their support."
