HU lineman recovering from injuries
Clif Knight, Hartselle Enquirer
Mike Cadle is making good progress in a Birmingham hospital from injuries he sustained Aug. 11 while working on a power line upgrade project, according to Doug Keel, superintendent of the Hartselle Utilities Electric Department.
"I visited with him Aug. 25 after he had surgery to repair the muscles and tendons in the elbow of the arm that was amputated," he stated. "This will enable him to have use of his elbow. He was scheduled to have skin graft surgery on his back (exit wound) later in the week.
"He is in a private room in the burn unit and is making exceptionally good progress. His doctors are amazed at how well he is doing. He is also in good spirits and hopes to be able to come home by the end of next month," he added.
Cadle, 43, suffered severe trauma to his right arm and less serious flash burns to other parts of his body when he came into contact with a 7,200-volt transmission line.
