Funeral with military honors for Paul H. Kelly, 78, of Nashville, Tenn., formerly of Hartselle, was Friday, July 15, at 4 p.m. at Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Owen Ray Stricklin officiating.
Burial was in Hartselle Memory Gardens.
Mr. Kelly died Tuesday, July 12, 2005, at Lakeshore the Meadows in Nashville. He was born Dec. 29, 1926, in Lawrence County, Tenn., to William Steve Kelly and Hettie Steve Kelly. He was a lifelong Christian, a member of the Gideons and the Christian Men's Association and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and Crossroads Project Church Leadership. He sang in several choirs and played many musical instruments. Mr. Kelly received the NASA Apollo Achievement Award in appreciation of service related to the Apollo Moon Landing of July 20, 1969. He graduated from Vaughn School of Music at the age of 12.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ernestine "Ernie" Casteel Kelly of Nashville, Tenn.; two sons, Stephen Boyd Kelly and wife Celeste Viola of Golden, Colo. and Joseph Kim Kelly and wife Ellen Humphrey of Columbia, Tenn.; one daughter, Paula Alice Kelly Hunter and husband Jim of Nashville, Tenn.; one sister, Mary Kelly Stricklin and husband Donald of Smyrna, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Kelly Diane Hunter Krahl of Fayetteville, N.C., James David Hunter Jr. of Dearborn Heights, Mich. and Kathleen C. Kelly of Golden, Colo.
