Lavata Faye Yates McLamb

Funeral for Lavata Faye Yates McLamb, 89, of Falkville was Sunday, June 19, at 2 p.m. at Roundtop Community Church with the Rev. Pearl Jenkins officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.
Mrs. McLamb died Friday, June 17, 2005, at Summerford Nursing Home. A native of Alabama and being raised on a farm in Morgan County, she was born Nov. 23, 1915, to George Frank Yates and Jessie Augusta Summerford Yates.
During World War II, she served her country as a ship welder in a Mobile shipyard. During her working career, she worked in a variety of positions. She retired from the Alabama Department of Vocational Rehabilitation Services as a bookkeeper. During her retirement years, she loved to work in her garden. Mrs. McLamb was a lifelong member of Roundtop Community Church. She loved all people and especially her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Staples.
She is survived by her four sons, John Junkins of Madison, Tommy Junkins and Billy Tillman, both of Hartselle, and Paul McLamb of Gadsden; two daughters, Elizabeth Corsini of Burlington, N.C., and Merle Kritner of Falkville; two sisters, Livina Shoemaker and Gracie Penn, both of Falkville; 16 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.
