Funeral for Jerry Wayne Blackwood, 54, of Somerville was Tuesday, June 14, at 2 p.m. at Shoal Creek Baptist Church with Dr. Harold Fanning officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. Blackwood died Sunday, June 12, 2005, at his residence. He was born March 15, 1951, in Morgan County to David Lester Blackwood and Thelma Lois Bishop Blackwood. He owned and operated Blackwood Body Shop in Somerville, and was employed by Delphi as an electrician. He was also a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church where he served as deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was an avid deer hunter. Mr. Blackwood was preceded in death by his mother.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Vest Blackwood of Somerville; two sons, Brad David Blackwood of Vinemont and Scott Jamison Blackwood of Somerville; his father, David Lester Blackwood; one brother, Carl Allen Blackwood of Decatur; and two sisters, Lynda Hardin of Somerville and Joan Brown of Decatur.
Pallbearers were Charlie Maples, Charles Taylor, Bobby Taylor, James Sparkman, Dale Higdon and Benji Swaim.
