Funeral for Betty Jane Leatherwood Downes, 72, of Hartselle will be Friday, March 25, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Gamble officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery.
Mrs. Downes died Monday, March 21, 2005, at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born Nov. 11, 1932, in Jefferson County to Alma Graham Leatherwood and the late John H. Leatherwood. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, David Paul Downes of Hartselle; two sons, David L. Clark of Bridgeview, Ill., and Derek L. Clark of Hartselle; two daughters, Desiree L. Clark Smith of Hartselle and Davina L. Clark Kamper of Palos Heights, Ill.; her mother, Alma Graham Leatherwood of Mount Olive; a brother, Michael Leatherwood of Tarrant City; four sisters, Jackie Leatherwood Bazzec of Decatur, Martha Leatherwood Graham of Byron, Ga., Patricia Leatherwood Jacobs of Tarrant City, and Beatrice Leatherwood Panula of Hickory Hills, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Derek L. Clark, Thomas Kamper, Gregory Smith, Les Hornbuckle, Michael Leatherwood and David Talley.
Memorial contributions may be made to a local Alzheimer's organization.
