Cedar Ridge stops Tigers' win streak

Hartselle Junior High School's eighth grade boy's basketball team won twice before sustaining its second loss of the season to Cedar Ridge. The loss ended a 12-game winning streak by Hartselle.
Hartselle overcame a two-point first quarter deficit to defeat Oak Park Middle School in Decatur, 48-31, on Jan. 18.
The win improved Hartselle's record to 17-1 while Oak Park dropped to 10-7.
Manquez Jones paced Hartselle with 15 points and four steals. Luke Bole had eight points, three rebounds, two blocked shots and one assist. Rodney Stansberry added eight points and had four rebounds. Marquez Jones scored seven points and had five rebounds, seven assists and four steals.
On Jan. 20, Hartselle's eighth graders leaped past Athens, 44-34, to claim their 18th win of the season against only one loss.
Marquez Jones paced Hartselle's attack with 14 points, eight rebounds, one blocked shot, six assists and five steals.
Luke had 11 points, three rebounds, two blocked shots, one assist and one steal. Stansberry added nine points and had six rebounds, three assists and two steals Jones Manquez scored eight points, and had four assists and two steals.
Hartselle fell behind in the first period and was never able to recover as they lost to Cedar Ridge, 28-34, on Jan. 24.
The loss was the team's second against 18 wins.
Marquez Jones led Hartselle with 10 points, nine rebounds, two blocked shots, two assists and one steal. Stansberry had six points, three assists, two blocked shots, and two steals and Bole followed with eight points, four rebounds, three blocked shots and one steal.
Rodney Stansberry scored four points and had five rebounds and one steal. Jones Manquez has four points and one rebound.
