President plan endangers seniors
Editor:
President Bush is endangering my retirement. He started with a cost of living increase which netted me $20. Then he increased my Medicare premiums. At the same time congress got a bigger cost of living increase than Social Security recipients.
It seems that government workers pay more for goods and services than I do.
If we would stop government waste and entitlement we would have plenty of money to fund Social Security.

Editor,
Holiday magic happened once again in our area during this Christmas season! Over 100,000 cans were collected Dec. 2 during the 2004 Can-a-Thon, and over 70,000 were collected by schools in Decatur, Morgan County and Hartselle!
Special thanks to WAFF-TV and the Colonial Mall for co-sponsoring this event with the Volunteer Center of Morgan County. Around 20 non-profit agencies that provide food for the people in our community benefited from this area-wide food drive!
Our hearts overflowed with joy as the Holiday Hope Chests started pouring in to the Volunteer Center from all over Decatur and Morgan County. Holiday Hope Chest is a national program that started a number of years ago as a Service-Learning project in area schools to help homeless and disadvantaged youth.
It has grown as more schools, community groups and individuals have jumped on the bandwagon. For the past two years over 1,500 boxes have been provided to over 20 non-profit agencies who serve disadvantaged children and youth to help with their Christmas distributions.
A heartfelt "Thank You" to the generous and caring people of Decatur and Morgan County from kindergarten age through adulthood for making Christmas dreams come true for so many.
On behalf of the staff of the Volunteer Center of Morgan County and those who were recipients of your kindness, we say, "Thanks for making a real difference in your community!"
*Service Learning is a partnership between Morgan County and Decatur City Schools and the Volunteer Center of Morgan County and is funded through a federal grant through the Alabama State Department of Education Learn &Serve, and the Corporation for National Service.
