Funeral for Alva A. Johnson, 86, of Pines Community was Tuesday, Jan. 4, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. F. B. Martin Jr. officiating.
Burial was at Pines Baptist Church, Russell Cemetery.
Mr. Johnson died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, at Falkville Health Care Center. He was born Dec. 8, 1918, in Somerville to Gilbert A. and Rosa Ella Fowler Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of 65 years, Anna Lee Vice Johnson. He was a member of Pines Baptist Church and a loving, caring husband and father. He was a respected and loyal friend to many. Mr. Johnson had a lover of nature and enjoyed woodworking, fishing, feeding his ducks, and providing for the deer on his property. He was a talented mechanic and machinist, and was always willing to help his neighbors with his talents. He had an unconditional love for his family and was always there whenever anyone needed him.
He is survived by two sons, Larry Johnson and wife Janet of Decatur, and Kenneth Johnson and wife Joan of Huntsville; four daughters, Carol Montgomery and husband Hal, Frances Childers and husband Armon, all of Priceville, Martha Stewart and husband, Milt, Kathy Harbin and husband Al, all of Madison; 19 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Tracy Johnson, Brian Montgomery, Randy Knighten, Jason Harbin, Arvel Childers, Dustin Dadd, Austin Johnson and Dane Childers.
Honorary pallbearers were Todd Harbin and Adam Childers.
