Tigers grapplers off to 8-1 start

The Hartselle Tiger wrestling team continued their winning ways with four dual-match wins. Hartselle topped Arab 50-18, Buckhorn 63-6, Huntsville 56-22 and Bob Jones 50-30.
Hartselle 50, Arab 18
The Tigers lost only one match and forfeited at 119 pounds, they don't have a 119-pound wrestler, as they went on to an easy win over the Knights.
Rico Elliot recorded a 17-1 win, while Andrew Durham won 10-5 and Dennis Smith won a 3-2 decision. Hunter Brasher won his match 5-2, while Luke Mize, Andrew Watson, Kurt Hamilton, Jacob Watkins, Adam Faulk and Travis Lightle won by pins. Brad Eubanks recorded a 7-1 victory, while Kaleb Blanton lost 8-1.
Hartselle 63,
Buckhorn 6
Brasher and Smith won decision by scores of 10-2 and 6-2 respectively, while the rest of the Tigers won their matches by pins. The forfeited match at 119 were the only points Buckhorn scored.
Hartselle 50, Bob Jones 30
The Patriots scored 24 of their 30 points on forfeits as Hartselle coach Keith Corder held out three injured Tiger wrestlers.
Brett Bidwell recorded a 15-1 win, while Smith won 10-7. The rest of the Tigers won their match by pin.
Hartselle 56, Huntsville 22
Two Tigers won by decision, while the rest of the team recorded pins.
Watson won, 19-2 and Faulk won his match, 3-1.
Tigers go 4-1 in Slamfest
Hartselle recorded a 4-1 record last Saturday at the Slamfest Invitational in Clarksville, Tenn.
The Tigers whipped Brentwood Academy, 50-21. Rossview High then topped the Tigers, 33-29.
Hartselle bounced back to whip Hendersonville, 48-14. The Tigers then whipped Karnes High, 54-15, and Overton High, 47-21.
Bidwell, Faulk, Eubanks and Lightle all went 5-0 during the tournament, while Elliott, Brasher, Mize, Smith, Watson and Cory Farmer recorded 4-1 records. Blanton went 3-2, while Hamilton went 1-1 and Watkins finished at 2-3.
For the season, Faulk has a perfect 11-0 record, while Elliott is 11-1, Lightle is 12-1, Farmer is 7-1 and Hamilton is 8-1. Brasher has a season record of 12-2, Mize is 10-2, and Bidwell is 7-2. Smith is now 10-3, Watson and Eubanks are both 9-3. Watkins has a 7-5 record and Blanton is now 6-5.
Hartselle is now 8-1 in dual matches.
B-team, JV results
The Tiger B-team and junior varsity squads wrestled in the Bob Jones Invitational last Saturday.
JD Glenn won the 215-pound division for the Tiger B-team, while Wes Pevahouse and Dallas Kalber took second at the 189 and 152-pound divisions, respectively.
Matt Zartuche took fourth at 152 pounds, while David Ford finished fourth at 171.
The junior varsity had three third-place and two fourth-place finishers.
Barrett Eubanks, Ethan Hamilton and Matthew George took third, while Dustin Smith and Cody Thompson took home fourth.
