Funeral for Thelma Lorene Smithson, 93, of Hartselle was Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Glen Smallwood officiating.
Burial was in Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
Mrs. Smithson died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born June 28, 1911, in Morgan County to William G. Johnson and Martha Royer Johnson. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church. Mrs. Smithson was preceded in death by her husband, Winston Smithson; a son, Harold Smithson; two brothers, Pruitt Johnson and Clarence Johnson; a grandson, Darrell Bennich; and a granddaughter, Debra Ann Bennich.
She is survived by two daughters, Edith Bennich and husband Tom of Hartselle and Barbara Smithson of Decatur; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were David Smithson, Dennis Smithson, Jeff Smithson, Dewayne Bennich, Greg White, Jim Anderson, Dan Bennich, Jim Rushen, and Keith Holmes,
The family requests memorials be made to Hospice of the Valley, Meals on Wheels, or the Gideons.
