A look back

Football will continue to dominate local sports pages for several more weeks.
1928 --October 21, Falkville Coach Ray's troops of Blue Devils defeated Coach Shorty Long's fighting Tigers of Arab 21-0. The Falkville lads outplayed Arab for the entire game, never allowing them to cross the 20-yard line. The three Petty brothers worked very efficiently, two of them at end and Capt. Clarence at quarterback.
1943 --October 21, The Morgan County High School football team will play Warrior tonight at 8 o'clock. All the boys have been working hard this week. The starting line-up this week is uncertain. There will be white jerseys this week instead of the red.
1934 --October 22, The Wolverines of Morgan County High School at Hartselle had an open date this week-end and coaches took advantage of the recess to prepare the Crimson and White for the game with the Falkville Blue Devils next Friday afternoon. These encounters between the Wolverines and Blue Devils bring out the type of hysterically valiant battling that only high school teams are capable of achieving.
1932 --October 23, Every member of the Alabama State Senate supports Alabama and Auburn playing each other in football again.
1963 --October 24, Plans are developing to erect a new football stadium here.
1923 --October 25, MCHS students are getting out a monthly school newspaper. It includes a wide variety of general and sports news. Football dominates now.
1925 --October 26, Boys who wish to play football for the Morgan County High School here must furnish their own uniforms. Local shops will put cleats on their shoes for a reasonable rate. When the team travels out of town for a game each team member will be expected to contribute to the gas and oil expenses.
1934 --October 27, All schools in Morgan County that were unable to open on October 1 will begin the 1934-35 sessions November 5. This later than usual start due to Depression conditions has ruined the football season.
