Tragedy reminds us it's just a game

The game was called off with over one quarter left to play.
The reason was the tragic death of a 14-year old freshman player, Zach Upton.
But, it is just a game. Cancelling the remaining time left in the Falkville at Oakman game was the only decision to make.
Does the game still have any meaning for either team?
Can the Oakman team go on and finish the season without a fallen friend?
Will they cancel their last three games?
Will they even care if they play anymore?
Can the players deal with the loss of a teammate?
The answers aren't known right now.
Hopefully, whatever decision the Oakman team makes will be one which helps them to overcome their grief.
The games will go on this week, but I'm not sure the usual excitement and passion will be in the air.
Football is perhaps the most exciting sport for players and fans alike, but it is just a game.
A game which seems a little insignificant this week.

A week ago this looked to be ugly, as Tennessee was coming off a big road win at Georgia.
Then Saturday the Vols looked shaky at best, in squeaking out a win at Ole Miss.
The Tide meantime, looked much improved as they dominated No. 25 Southern Mississippi in Tuscaloosa.
Alabama's running game should make some noise in Knoxville.
But, with the home crowd and a sub-par passing game working against them, the Tide will come up short…Rocky Top 27, Crimson Tide 20
