Funeral for Esther Ruth Smith, 79, of Hartselle was Wednesday, October 20, at Bible Baptist Church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Charles Sparks officiating and Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be Friday, October 22, in Stephens Memorial Gardens in Toccoa, Ga., with Whitlock Mortuary directing.
Mrs. Smith died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, at Huntsville Hospital. She was a retired registered nurse. She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church where she was also a member of the Ladies Sunday school class and a member of the Golden Redeemers. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, James Charley Smith; four brothers, Floyd Firestone, Paul Firestone, Warren Firestone and Lloyd Firestone; and one sister, Opal Maugherman.
She is survived by one son, Dennis James Smith and wife Ellen Miller of Mt. Airy, Ga.; three daughters, Susan Gale Grow and husband Jim of Leander, Tex., Darleen Haddock of Hartselle and Sharlene Whitworth and husband Kenneth of Eastanollee, Ga.; two sisters, Leora Weber of Waynesboro, Penn. and Grace Fansler of Fremont, Ind.; 11 grandchildren, Dennis Smith Jr. of Silver Creek, Ga., Holly Kelly of Eastanollee, Ga., Kelly Smith of Atlanta, Ga., Kris Hallford of Rota, Spain, Deana Haddock of Hartselle, Lisa Fricks and Angela Thurman, both of Toccoa, Ga., Angie Shirley of Ormond Beach, Fla., Jamey Young of Eastanollee, Ga., Amber Cain of Toccoa, Ga., and Ashley Whitworth of Demorest, Ga.; nine great grandchildren, Lindsey and Christian Smith of Silver Creek, Ga., Patrick Kelley of Eastanollee, Ga., Ezra and Larissa Hallford of Rota, Spain, Lacey, Lee and Jeffrey Fricks of Eastanollee, Ga., and Tyler Shirley of Ormond Beach, Fla.
Pallbearers were Lewis Allison, Wayne Stewart, Carl Speake, Ed Allen, Scottie Lovelady, Sonny Simmons and Bobby Dotson.
