By Staff
Staff Report, Hartselle Enquirer
The Danville Hawks qualified for the postseason for the first time in a decade Friday night when they topped Hanceville, 28-7.
The win was the fourth region win in four tries and clinches a playoff game for the Hawks. With two more region wins, Danville (6-0) would host a first-round playoff game.
The Hawks won behind the power running of junior running back Jeremy Orr, who scored two touchdowns and finished with 153 yards on 27 carries. Orr now has 779 yards on the season, in addition to 14 touchdowns to lead the area in scoring.
Orr opened the scoring with a 30-yard run late in the first period of play. The point-after failed.
Hanceville would take a 7-6 lead when Jake Gable scored on a one-yard run in the second quarter.
Danville took the lead for good when Orr scored from the one-yard line just before halftime.
