Funeral for Richard A. "Turbo" Simmons, 48, of Somerville was Saturday, Sept. 18, at 1 p.m. at Journey Church in Eva with the Rev. Joey Coots officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Shiloh Cemetery with military honors.
Mr. Simmons died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, at his residence. He was born Sept. 18, 1953, in Michigan to Noah H. Simmons and Lavenia Mae Drinkard. He was a member of the Assembly of God and a veteran of the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division Company B, Fort Campbell, Ky., AVN.BN Forces Command Sgt.
He is survived by his wife, Ellon Holmes Simmons of Somerville; one son, Richard Simmons of Hartselle; two stepsons, Justin Webster and Douglas Webster, both of Decatur; one daughter, Melissa Rene' Jesse of Lufkin, Texas; one stepdaughter, Jessica Webster of Florida; his mother, Lavenia Lindsey Bohnet of Falkville; his father, Noah A. Simmons of Hartselle; one brother, David Elliott Wayne Simmons of Moulton; four sisters, Rose Mary Bartram and husband Larry of Falkville, Wyedonna Hillyer and husband Guy of Ohio, Teresa Kinney and husband Dwight of Eva and Leisha Simmons of Falkville; eight grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
