Williams, Boatwright exchange vows
Dr. Makeba L. Williams of Nashville and Damond Boatwright of Richmond, Va., were married May 29 at 5:30 p.m. at the John Keith Benton Chapel on the campus of Vanderbilt University by the Rev. Joseph W. Walker III.
Parents of the couple are Linda Williams Chapman and Norris Gholston, both of Decatur, and Mr. and Mrs. Sampson Boatwright of Goose Creek, S.C.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of white slipper satin and silk organza.
The strapless gown was fashioned with an empire waistline and a molded bodice embellished with golden metallic embroidery. The skirt of silk organza flowed into a chapel train.
A tiara of sterling silver with a patina of gold held her veil. She carried a bouquet of white hydrangeas.
The bride's mother was matron of honor.
DeShaunne Bailey of Chicago was honor attendant.
Bridesmaids were Dr. Lakeitha Foster of Dallas; Dr. DeAnn Bullock of North Augusta, S.C.; Marsha Price of Nashville; Leila Babaeva of Minnetonka, Minn.; Tiffany Boatwright of Goose Creek, the bridegroom's sister; and Amanda Berke of Reston, Va.
The bridegroom's father was best man.
Groomsmen were Raul Rodriguez; Gary Deeg of Goose Creek; Clint Avery of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; Isaac Perez of Fayetteville, N.C.; Terry Quinn of Columbia, S.C.; Michael Matthews of Atlanta; Cornell Caldwell of Chicago; and Dia Nichols of Pensacola, Fla.
Readers were Jim Bridge and Jaime and Lori Wesolowski.
Candlelighters were Shelvie Williams Jr. and Sylvia Boatwright.
Music was provided by Polley Brecht, organist; Paul Epps, trumpeter; and Amanda Bryant and Darwin Mason, soloists.
A reception was given at the Parthenon in Nashville.
Helen Morisette was wedding director.
Vieng Rattanong kept the bride's book.
The couple took a wedding trip to Spain and Morocco. They reside in Richmond.
The bridegroom's parents gave a rehearsal dinner at the Merchant's Restaurant in Nashville.

Hanson, Beavers to wed Aug. 29
Diane Hanson and Gabriel Beavers, both of Miami, Fla. announce their engagement. Mr. Beavers is formerly of Hartselle.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Suzanne Hove of Rochester, Minn., and Richard Hanson of West Concord, Minn. She is a graduate of Boston University and Southern Methodist University. She is a juried artist at the Art/Center South Florida in Miami Beach, Fla. She is the granddaughter of Anola Hove of Blue Earth, Minn., the late Orville Hove, and Esther and Carlyle Hanson of Blue Earth, Minn.
The groom-elect is the son of Sandra Beavers of Hartselle. He is a graduate of Boston University and Southern Methodist University. He is currently a bassoon fellow with the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, Fla. He is the grandson of Stella Crowe George of Hartselle and the late John D. Crowe.
The wedding will be held Aug. 29 in St. Paul, Minn.
Wilkerson, Smith to wed Sept. 25
Randy and Loretta Wilkerson of Hartselle announce the engagement of their daughter, Ashley Nicole Wilkerson, to Johnathan Randolf Smith, son of Norton and LaZelle Smith of Somerville.
The bride-elect is a graduate of Brewer High School and attends Calhoun Community College. She is employed by David's Bridal in Huntsville. She is the granddaughter of Dorothy Worley of Southaven, Miss. and the late Winston D. Worley, and Peggy and Frank Wilkerson of Southaven, Miss.
The groom-elect is a graduate of Brewer High School and attends Calhoun Community College. He is employed by Colors Precision Paint and Body in Hartselle. He is the grandson of the late Robert and Orthelle Crowe, and Irene and Carol Wesley Smith Jr. of Somerville.
The wedding will be held Sept. 25 at First United Methodist Church in Hartselle.
