Hanson, Safley to wed May 29
Dan and Debbie Hanson of Fairhope announce the engagement of their daughter, Rachel Elaine Hanson, to Christopher Allen "Roscoe" Safley of Ocean Springs, Miss., son of Lee and Sherry Safley of Guntown, Miss., formerly of Hartselle, and the late Linda Romager Safley.
The bride-elect is a graduate of Central Christian High School, the Defense Language Institute and Heald College. She is the granddaughter of Ruby Hanson of Fairhope.
The groom-elect is a 1996 graduate of Hartselle High School and is in the U.S. Navy.
His social organizations include the Eagle Scouts, Order of the Arrow and the VFW. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Romager and Martha Safley, all of Hartselle, and the late Norman Safley. The wedding will be held May 29 in Fairhope.
Brown, Williams to wed June 12
Mr. and Mrs. Lee Brown of Hartselle announce the engagement of their daughter, Ashley Suzanne Brown of Birmingham, to Walker Andrews Williams of Andalusia, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Pitt Wiliams of Clayton.
The bride-elect is a 1998 graduate of Hartselle High School and a 2002 graduate of Auburn University with a bachelor's degree in public relations.
She is currently pursuing a master's degree in early childhood and elementary education at The University of Alabama at Birmingham.
She is a member of Chi-Omega.
She is the granddaughter of Grace Huffman of Shelbyville, Tenn., the late Edward Huffman, and JC and Beula Brown of Decatur.
The groom-elect is a 1995 graduate of Dixie Academy, a 2000 graduate of Auburn University with a bachelor's degree in agronomy and soils, and a 2003 graduate of Auburn University with a master's degree in crop science. He is employed by Natural Resources Conversation Service as a soil conservationist.
He is the grandson of Evelyn Andrews of Louisville, the late Foy Andrews, and the late Marshall and Jonnie Williams.
The wedding will be held June 12 at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Decatur.
Johnston, Meggs to wed May 15
Suzanne Johnston of Eva announces the engagement of her daughter, Lori Michele Johnston, to James Teddy Meggs, son of Michael and Mary Ann Keene of Tuscaloosa.
The bride-elect is the daughter of the late David Johnston. She is the granddaughter of the late Bethel and Phyllis Kniphfer and the late Glenn and Reese Johnston.
She is a graduate of Vinemont High School and attended The University of Alabama, where she received a bachelor's degree in telecommunication and film/broadcast news. She is employed by AI Signal Research Inc. as a media relations specialist at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville.
The prospective groom is the grandson of Hugh A. Keene of Tuscaloosa and the late Myrtle Keene and the late James and Ora Averett.
A graduate of Holt High School, he is a sales manager for Flowers Baking Company of Tuscaloosa.
The wedding will be May 15 at 6 p.m. at the Huntsville Botanical Garden.
Hovis, Slaten to wed June 19
Charles and Beverly Hovis of Hartselle announce the engagement of their daughter, Micahla Brooke Hovis, to William Dustin Slaten, son of Edgar and Mary Ann Slaten of Hartselle.
The future bride is the granddaughter of the late J.T. Cobb and Ivadell Cobb of Hartselle and Howard and Barbara Hovis of Decatur.
She is a 1998 graduate of The Way Home Christian School and is employed by American Tan of Hartselle.
The future groom is the grandson of the late Robert "Buck" Boyer and Ruby Boyer of Hartselle and the late Oscar and Beatrice Slaten of Decatur.
The future groom is a 1998 graduate of Hartselle High School, and he is employed by Hibbett's Sporting Goods.
The wedding is planned for June 19 at 1 p.m. at The Wedding Chapel in Huntsville.
Thomas, McNair exchange vows
Jessica Blake Thomas of Hartselle and Stephen Harris McNair of Madison were wed Saturday, April 17, 2004, at 4 p.m. at Hartselle Church of Christ with Mr. Phillip Hines officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Luke Thomas of Hartselle. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Harris McNair of Eufaula.
The church featured white columns with greenery and an urn was placed at the front of the church with flowers in white, cream, pale yellow and pale pink. The flowers were of the same variety as the flowers carried by the bride.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, chose a formal gown of diamond white satin and re-embroidered silk Venice lace. The strapless gown was fashioned with a band of satin at the bust line. The delicate lines of the fitted Princess gown fell to a flared trumpet skirt. The hemline was also banded with satin and swept to a chapel train. Her veil of French tulle' was held by a matching bridal bandeau. Her bouquet featured stephanotis, calla lilies, casa blanca lilies, hydrangeas and gardenias in white and cream colors and was bound with ribbon.
Lindsey Holmes of Falkville was maid of honor.
Bridal attendants were Michael-Anne McNair of Cary, N.C., sister of the groom, Ginni Wood of Rogersville, Amy Peck of Hartselle, Kelly Lansdell of Muscle Shoals, Kristi Lomax of Danville, Miranda Roden of Florence, and Amy Childers of Florence.
The bride's attendants wore formal black georgette A-line gowns with a draped back and a slight flowing train. Each carried similar versions of the bride's bouquet with additional pale yellow and pale pink accents.
Michael McNair of Eufaula, father of the groom, was best man.
Groomsmen were Brandon John Thomas of Hartselle, brother of the bride, Jason Vaughn of Decatur, Jon McAlpin of Florence, Andy McAlpin of Florence, Will Hinton of Lutts, Tenn., Jonathan Spann of Florence, and Luke Copeland of Florence.
Music was provided by soloist Elishaba Larson of Birmingham.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the fellowship hall.
The bride's table was placed under a hoopoe adorned with arrangements of bridal flowers.
