Hartselle splits with Cullman, remains unbeaten in area play

The Hartselle Tigers began to struggle on the diamond this last week. Hartselle split a doubleheader with Cullman, then whipped Austin twice. After that win, the Tigers dropped four straight games for a 3-5 week record. Hartselle is now 16-10 overall and unbeaten in area play.
Hartselle 7, Cullman 1
Zack Andrews picked up the win to improve to 7-0 and give the Tigers a 3-0 record in 5A-Area 15 play.
Andrews struck out six and walked none while allowing one earned run.
Chris Kolenberg had a two-run homer to highlight a four-run fourth inning that broke open a close game. Chris Womack knocked in two runs on one hit while Ja'Cote Ward had one hit, one steal and two RBIs. Justin Youngblood went 2-for-4 and scored one run while stealing two bases.
Cullman 3, Hartselle 0
Brandon Wallace took the loss for the Tigers to slip to 4-4 on the mound. The game did not count toward the area standing. Nick Bates and Sam Ferguson each had one single for the Tigers' only hits of the evening.
Hartselle 13, Austin 4
Andrew Reeves improved to 2-0 with the win while striking out 10 batters.
Ja'Cote Ward went 2-for-3 with three RBIs while David Cameron, Seth Watson and
Michael Scott scored two runs each. Craig Womack had two RBIs while Scott drove in one run.
Hartselle 12, Austin 6
Zack Smith won his first game of the season pitching five innings and striking out four.
Ja'Cote Ward went 2-for-5 with four RBIs. Three of those RBIs came on a bases-clearing triple in the second inning.
David Cameron and Seth Watson had two RBIs each while freshman James Hargett had one hit and a run scored.
Shades Valley 6, Hartselle 5
Zack Andrews lost for the first time this season allowing only three earned runs and striking out 11 batters.
Four Tiger errors accounted for the three unearned runs.
David Cameron went 2-for-3 with a double.
Nick Bates connected for a two-run home run while Sam Ferguson had two RBIs.
Austin 8, Hartselle 3
Brandon Wallace slipped to 4-5 on the mound this season. Wallace struck out five and walked one.
Ja'Cote Ward went 2-for-3 with a stolen base. Justin Youngblood and Chris Wiley each scored a run while Michael Scott had a RBI double.
Demopolis 13, Hartselle 3
Andrew Reeves took the loss and slipped to 2-1 on the season.
Chris Kolenberg and Craig Womack had a hit and a RBI each. Hunter Brasher went 1-for-2.
Thompson 8, Hartselle 3
The Tigers defense let a 3-1 lead slip away in the top of the seventh inning.
Seven Hartselle errors in the last inning allowed Thompson to score seven runs and collect the win.
Seth Watson took the loss and is now 0-2 on the season.
Justin Youngblood went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Ja'Cote Ward had a double and scored a run.
David Cameron had a RBI and scored one run while Michael Scott and Chris Wiley scored the other two Tiger runs. James Hargett had a double.
