Hartsell will retire in 2005
The head of Hartselle's school system has announced his plans to retire next year.
In a letter to School Board members, Dr. Lee Hartsell said his retirement will become effective July 1, 2005.
He will actually leave his post March 1, 2005 because of personal and vacation days he has accumulated.
The terms of Hartsell's contract stipulates he must give the board one-year notice before retiring. Hartsell earns some $113,400 per year. He has been at the helm of Hartselle's school system since 1984.
The search for Hartsell's replacement is expected to begin immediately. The matter will also be up for discussion at the board's March 18 work session.
