Hawks whip Fairview, Hayden

The Danville Hawks were pounding the baseball this past week. They scored 29 runs in wins over Fairview and Hayden and finished second in the Hanceville Invitational Baseball tourney.
Danville 11, Hayden 1
Matt Lindsey was two-for-two; both hits were RBI doubles. Thomas Hopkins drove in two and scored twice. Danville batters collected 12 bases on balls seven of those base runners would score.
Brian Johnson improved his record to 3-1 with the complete game win. He allowed only three hits and struck out three.
Danville 18, Fairview 2
Sam Roy and Joey Miller each drove in three runs to lead the Hawks attack. Matt Young and Thomas Hopkins each collected two hits. Danville collected 11 hits and 11 walks.
Matt Lindsey won his first game of the year by pitching the first two innings and allowing only one hit.
Dexter Wimberley threw three innings of no-hit ball in relief. Wimberly struck out five.
The Hawks host Winston County March 5 at 6 p.m.
The Danville junior varsity whipped Tanner 14-3 on Monday while the middle school team also topped the Rattlers 14-6.
