Relay for Life set for April

Just as Brewer High School mourns the loss of a classmate to cancer, another group of Morgan County residents is kicking off their efforts to battle the disease.
The American Cancer Society's Relay For Life, the largest cancer fund raiser in the country, will kick off with a party Jan. 26 at 5:30 p.m. at Decatur Utilities Auditorium. Dinner will be provided and participants will learn about relay participation and information on fighting cancer.
"We're excited about our plans for 2004 and look forward to having new teams and participants join us," said Leslie Britnell, event chair for the Morgan County Relay For Life. "This kick off is just the beginning of great things to come."
Relay for Life will be held April 30-May 1.
Last year, Morgan County raised some $156,353 for the American Cancer Society.
Held in more than 3,300 communities last year, Relay for Life brings together participants to raise money for cancer research, education, advocacy and patient support programs.
