Funeral for Nathan Howard Thompson, 74, of Valhermoso Springs will be Thursday (today), Aug. 14, at Valhermoso Holiness Church at 2 p.m. with the Revs. Melvin Brown and Don Trosper officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
A military graveside service will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. Thompson died Monday, Aug. 11, 2003, at his residence. He was born April 17, 1929, in Morgan County to Nathan Thompson and Blanche McCutcheon Thompson. He was a member of the VFW and Fraternal Order of Eagles and was retired from the United States Army. He was owner of Ampro Insurance Agency in Huntsville. He was the father of the late Sandy Diamond and David Howard Thompson.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Lee Thompson of Valhermoso Springs; three sons, Gary Thompson and Ricky Thompson, both of Valhermoso Springs and Larry Thompson of Park City, Tenn.; two daughters, Donna Roberts and Wanda Thompson Selby, both of Somerville; two brothers, Hammond Thompson of Lacey's Spring and Hurshel Thompson of Valhermoso; three sisters, Louise Elrod, Lois West and Linda Atchley, all of Valhermoso Springs; four grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Thompson, Josh Teague, Matt Teague, Brandon Williams, Adam Thompson and Ryan Roberts.
