Funeral for John Mark Barnes, 46, of Decatur was Friday, Aug. 8, at 11 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mitchell Williams officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Barnes died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, at his residence. He was born Feb. 9, 1957, in Decatur to Jackson and Glellon Elnora White Barnes. He was an insurance agent at Rankin Shelton &Hunter. He was a member and outgoing president of the Decatur Lions Club, Society of Certified Insurance Counselors, Alabama Mentor Association and Central United Methodist Church. He volunteered with Special Olympics.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Anne Tapscott Barnes of Decatur; his mother, Elnora White Barnes of Decatur; two stepsons, William Brandon Dutton of Hartselle and Brian Nelson Dutton of Decatur; two brothers, Randy Barnes of Decatur and Benton Barnes of Somerville; two granddaughters, Chaney Sara-Anne Dutton of Hartselle and Brylee Adyson Dutton of Decatur; and three nephews.
Pallbearers were Steve Cox, David Pugh, Mike Fite, Greg Barnes, Jay Anderson and Ken Lott.
Honorary pallbearers were the Decatur Lions Club.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley or Central United Methodist Church Building Fund.
