Funeral for John Houston Reynolds, 80, of Hartselle was Wednesday, July 2, at First Baptist Church in Hartselle with the Revs. Brooks Barkley and Bill Hacker officiating.
Burial was in Hartselle Memory Gardens with Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Reynolds died Monday, June 30, 2003, at Summerford Nursing Home. He was born June 7, 1923, in Marion County to James Willie and Ola Loveless Reynolds. He moved to Hartselle in 1958 as manager of V. J. Elmore Store. He later served as mayor of Hartselle and was director of Urban Renewal. He retired after 25 years as director of the Hartselle Housing Authority. He also served as President of the Chamber of Commerce, President of the Rotary Club, and President of the Hartselle Christian Businessmen Association. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hartselle.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gwendolyn Bradberry Reynolds; one son, John Eldon Reynolds of Hartselle; one daughter, Konnye Reynolds Maner of Hartselle; six grandchildren, Lisa Reynolds Smith, Brad Maner, Jeff Reynolds, John Maner, Chip Reynolds and Cynthia Maner Livingston; and five great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Brad Maner, Jeff Reynolds, John Maner, Chip Reynolds, Tucker Smith and Shane Livingston.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
