Cerullo earns ROTC award
Anthony E. Cerullo Jr. is one of more than 250 cadets who received the 2003 George C. Marshall ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) Award at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Va. The U.S. Army Cadet Command at Fort Monroe, Va., and the George C. Marshall Foundation work in conjunction to sponsor the annual awards seminar.
The award is presented to the most outstanding Army ROTC cadet seniors at each college or university in the nation which host ROTC detachments.
The college students are the best and brightest in the ROTC program who will serve as the Army's future leaders. After graduating from James Madison University, Harrisburg, Va., and completing the ROTC program, the cadet will be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army. Cerullo is the son of Betsy Cerullo of Woodbridge, Va., and Anthony E. Cerullo of Somerville.
Cain returns from Iraq
Staff Sgt. Paul Brandon Cain, 4th Infantry Division, Operation Iraq Freedom, returned to Ft. Lewis, Wash., on June 3. Cain, a military intelligence analyst, previously served the U.S. Army in Albania, Bosnia, Germany, and Cuba overseas duty. He is a graduate of Hartselle High School and attended The University of Alabama. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Cain of Athens and Linda Carroll Cain of Trussville. He is the grandson of Bill and Jane Carroll of Trussville, J. P. and Ruth Cain of Hartselle and the late Linda Trotter Cain.
Dowdy finishes basic training
Army Pvt. Jeremy S. Dowdy has graduated from One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at the U.S. Army Infantry School, Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. The training consisted of basic military training and advanced individual training (AIT).
Dowdy is the son of Debra Dowdy of Hartselle. He is a 2000 graduate of Hartselle High School.
Harsh completes basic training
Air Force Airman Nathan W. Harsh has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
He is the son of Kay Harsh of Hartselle and John Harsh of Somerville.
Harsh is a 2002 graduate of Brewer High School.
